The Friends of St Andrew's Church support the work of The Churches Conservation Trust and work in partnership with them to:
Increase awareness of the church and its history
Encourage greater use of the church for community events.
Headed by an enthusiastic committee, the Friends have identified some possible projects which will enhance the church, including:
Restoration of the clock, completed May 2008, bringing a visible sign of the care and affection for our local church.
Installation of heating , completed Easter 2007, now enables the church to be used year-round.
Provision of public restroom facilities - This is our next major project.
We would like to thank Bert Hobden, Mark Peake and all at The Iron Duke for their generous donations and support.
The Friends would help to fund these projects partly from membership subscriptions and donations, but also by arranging fund-raising events and applying for grants.
In addition, the Friends provide a pool of volunteers to care for the church, and open it for at least two hours, from 2pm to 4pm, every Sunday. We always need more volunteers. Please email: gerrymccrudden@hotmail.com
Membership, at £10 per annum, or above, is open to all and even if you are unable to provide physical assistance, you can still give valuable support simply by belonging.
All members will be entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting. They will receive a regular newsletter keeping them informed about forthcoming events and progress with the Friends projects. News of these will also appear on this website.
